Dodgers News: Tanner Scott Removed from Dodgers Postseason Roster
Tanner Scott was removed from the NLDS roster

LOS ANGELES, CA—Notably absent from the team during Game Three of the National League Division Series against the Philadelphia Phillies was Los Angeles Dodgers left-handed relief pitcher Tanner Scott.
Scott, despite being added to both the Wild Card Series and NLDS 26-man roster, had yet to appear in a postseason game for Los Angeles this season, and that was likely by design due to how much the lefty struggled in his first season in Dodger Blue.
During yesterday’s 8-2 loss, many fans and the media questioned Dodgers manager Dave Roberts for not using Scott in a mop-up role in the 8th inning, instead of letting veteran left-hander Clayton Kershaw handle the situation.
Well, Roberts gave a grim update stating that Scott was not at Dodger Stadium yesterday for Game Three due to a personal issue.
Roberts stated that Scott’s procedure was “urgent,” and the Dodgers had no prior knowledge of any health concern until their workout on Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium.
“I don’t think we knew exactly the extent of it,” Roberts explained of not making a roster move in time for Game 3. “And so to kind of make that preemptive decision, I think we were probably a little bit more in flux.”
Scott’s absence during the Dodgers’ first postseason loss of the year contributed to Clayton Kershaw pitching only two innings. Kershaw pitched a scoreless seventh but ended up allowing five runs (four earned) after a difficult eighth inning in which he gave up home runs to J.T. Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber.
As a result, the Dodgers have replaced Scott with left-hander Justin Wrobleski on the 26-man NLDS roster.
Although Scott has been removed, he will not be eligible to pitch if the Dodgers advance to the National League Championship Series. However, he would be able to rejoin the team if they reach the World Series.
