Dodgers News: Team USA Adds Will Smith to 2026 WBC Roster
Will Smith will return to the upcoming WBC representing the United States.

ORLANDO, FL—Despite the 2025 fresh off the Los Angeles Dodgers and their fans’ minds, the 2026 season is fast approaching, with less than 100 days until the start of the 2026 World Baseball Classic.
Over the last several weeks, multiple Major League Baseball players have announced their intentions to play for their respective countries, including two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani, who announced on Instagram that he’d be rejoining Team Japan for a chance to repeat.
Well, you can add another Dodgers player to that list: All-Star catcher Will Smith.
Earlier today, Team USA manager Mark DeRoasa announced on MLB Network that Smith would be returning to the roster, having already participated in the 2023 WBC, where the United States finished second behind Team Japan.
Smith is wrapping up a career-best season with the Dodgers, where he achieved a .296 batting average, hit 17 homers, and posted a .901 OPS. He also ranked among the top 20 in NL MVP voting.
Smith will join 2025 American League MVP runner-up Cal Raleigh, who is expected to take the starting role for Team USA, with Will Smith providing backup when needed.
