Dodgers News: Teoscar Hernández Placed on IL; James Outman Recalled

MIAMI— The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed 2024 National League all-star Teoscar Hernández on the 10-day injured list due to a left groin strain. In Hernández’s place, the Dodgers have recalled outfielder James Outman from Triple-A OKC.

Hernández, 32, was removed from yesterday’s 7-4 win early after experiencing left groin tightness running down a ball in the gap at Loan Depot Park.

After the game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said that Hernández would get imaging done but that the situation was “concerning,” which prompted many to see an IL stint in the future.

Hernández was off to a hot start this season, slashing .315/.333/.600 with a .933 OPS, ten doubles, nine home runs, and leading the league with thirty-four RBIs this season.

The loss of Hernández for any number of games will be substantial. While Outman has shown strides in the minor leagues this season, his 36.3% K% is very concerning for a hitter-friendly environment in the Pacific Coast League.

The Dodgers’ offense has been relentless over the last two weeks, scoring sixty-five runs (8.125 RPG) over their last eight games played, and Teoscar Hernández was a significant contributor over that stretch, hitting .438 with fourteen hits, two home runs, ten RBIs, and seven runs scored.
