The Los Angeles Dodgers are making a significant impact in the All-Star Game voting across multiple positions in the National League. Mostly, the position of your favorite Dodgers is unchanged, but we do have one good bit of news to report. No doubt thanks to his monster weekend in New York against the Yankees, Teoscar Hernandez has moved into third place in the National League outfield, which would make him a starter for the first time in his career. Here’s a rundown of the other players in the voting.
At first base, Freddie Freeman is in second place with 1,327,918 votes, trailing behind Bryce Harper of the Phillies, who leads with 2,037,523 votes. Despite Harper’s standout season, Freeman continues to demonstrate elite performance with a .901 OPS, aiming for his eighth All-Star selection.
For shortstop, Mookie Betts leads with 1,680,658 votes. Betts, who won’t participate due to a left hand fracture, has had a stellar season with an .892 OPS and 10 home runs before his injury. His lead over second-place Trea Turner of the Phillies is substantial.
In the outfield, Teoscar Hernández is in third place with 1,413,877 votes, closely following Jurickson Profar of the Padres and Christian Yelich of the Brewers. Hernández is having a strong first half in his debut season with the Dodgers.
At catcher, Will Smith ranks third with 955,726 votes. He is behind William Contreras of the Brewers and J.T. Realmuto of the Phillies. Smith leads all NL catchers with 11 home runs, showcasing his power at the plate.
Finally, for the designated hitter position, Shohei Ohtani is the frontrunner with 1,773,404 votes, nearly double the votes of the second-place Marcell Ozuna of the Braves. Ohtani’s remarkable season includes leading the NL in multiple categories such as runs, home runs, batting average, slugging, and OPS, securing his fourth All-Star selection.
Overall, the Dodgers are well-represented in the All-Star voting, with key players like Freeman, Betts, Hernández, Smith, and Ohtani making strong cases for their inclusion in the All-Star Game.
