Los Angeles Dodgers workhorse RHP Tony Gonsolin made his first rehab start today with Dodgers Triple-A Affiliate Oklahoma City. Gonsolin was placed on the IL in 2023 with forearm inflammation which resulted in Tommy John Surgery.

Gonsolin started 20 times in the 2023 season and amassed a 4.98 ERA (88 ERA+) and a 2.05 strikeout-to-walk ratio. For his career, he’s compiled a 3.19 ERA (132 ERA+) and a 2.66 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 375 innings pitched.

Gonsolin pitched two good innings tonight. His fastball topped out at 93mph and his off-speed pitches where consistent and on the mark. Gonsolin’s line for tonight’s game – 32P / 24S / 2IP / 2H / 0R / 0ER / 0BB / 3K. His pitch mix was a change-up, splitter, slider, cutter, and fastball.

With tonight’s rehab start, Gonsolin was OKC’s sixteenth different pitcher this year making a rehab start with the Dodgers Triple-A Affiliate. The most rehab starts Oklahoma has seen. Gonsolin’s start was very encouraging, his command looked good and was getting first pitch strikes against batters.

Dodger fans will have to wait for an update from Manger Dave Roberts after tonight’s game against Chicago to see what’s next for Tony Gonsolin. I would be surprised if we see Gonsolin pitching this October, but stranger things have happened in Dodgerland.
