Dodgers News: The Hidden Meaning Behind the New “Back-to-Back” Logo

LOS ANGELES — As LA got busy celebrating its newly minted championship, the Dodgers graphics department unveiled a banger of a new logo that will be featured throughout the next year. And like most great pieces of commercial art, it’s full of little Easter eggs that tell the story of the 2025 championship. Let’s take a look, shall we?

The logo, brainchild of graphic designer Ross Yoshida, is elegant and complex at the same time. At the top of the logo is the outline of the silhouette of the roof of the Rogers Centre in Toronto, where the Dodgers clinched their ninth World Series title.

And speaking of the number nine, that’s the number of flags that appear in the top of the design, representing the nine championship seasons (one in Brooklyn and eight here in LA). These pennants are styled like the flags that fans see flying in centerfield at Dodger Stadium.

The middle flag of the nine is gold, as is the ribbbon on which the words “back to back” are written. This gold matches the gold of the commissioner’s trophy, or the “piece of metal” as Rob Manfred likes to call it.

Below the words “World Champions” (feels so good to say that) are two little nuggets. First, mirrored silver pennants represented the back-to-back wins in 2024 and 2025. Then just below the pennants are three stars, representing each World Series win in this new “dynasty” of the 2020s.

Finally, surrounding the unmistakeable “LA” Dodgers logo is an outline of home plate, where so many key plays occured in this championship run. From the Orion Kerkering disaster in the NLDS, to Tommy Edman gunning down Davis Schneider in the epic Game 3, to the fateful Miguel Rojas throw that denied Isiah Kiner-Falefa and the Jays the championship by a fraction of an inch.

The artist himself took to social media to post his thoughts on the design being accepted for use. “Honestly,” he posted on X, “there were several times I thought this logo would join the many others on the cutting room floor. Thank you to one of the most special Dodgers teams of my lifetime.”

We couldn’t agree more! Bravo to all involved! Now somebody get started on the “Three-peat” logo stat!
