Dodgers News: Tommy Edman Still Feeling Discomfort; Ankle at About 80%

PHOENIX—The injury bug has hit the Los Angeles Dodgers hard this season, primarily in the pitching department, with thirteen pitchers on the injured list. However, the position player side has also been affected over the last two weeks.

During the last homestand, Dodgers utilityman Tommy Edman tweaked his ankle in last Tuesday’s win over the Miami Marlins —the same ankle that delayed his return from the 60-day injured list the previous season.

Edman, 30, was off to a career year, slashing .252/.295/.523 with an .818 OPS and eight home runs this season before the injury.

Dave Roberts confirmed that Edman had returned to baseball activities including running and took live at-bats against Dodgers righting-handed pitcher Emmet Sheehan in Arizona yesterday.

However, prior to tonight’s game against the Arizona Diamondbacks, it was revealed that Edman was still feeling ankle discomfort with straight-line running. However, Edman’s penciled in for live at-bats next week, along with Teoscar Hernández, who is also on the 10-day injured list.

Edman’s ankle is at about 80% right now, and while he was eligible for activation off the 10-day injured list today, the Dodgers opted to hold off until next homestand, but it all depended on how Edman feels next week.
