LOS ANGELES — Some sad news today. Jo Lasorda, Tommy’s widow, has passed away at the age of 91. According to a press release issued by the team on Tuesday morning, Jo passed away Monday evening at 8:59 p.m. at her Fullerton home.
The Dodgers press release goes on to say “Jo Lasorda was born on March 14, 1930 in Greenville, South Carolina. Joan Miller met Tommy Lasorda at a Greenville Spinners minor league game. The two were married on April 14, 1950 and were married for 70 years. Tommy passed away on January 7 of this year. She was surrounded by her loved ones at her home.”
This is the second spouse of a Dodger legend who we’ve lost this year. In January, around the same time that Tommy passed away, Vin Scully’s wife Sandi died as well. Rest in Peace, Jo. You and Tommy, together again, in the arms of the Big Dodger in the Sky.
