Dodgers News: Treinen & Snell Begin Rehab Assignment

MILWAUKEE, WI— Before today’s game, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts confirmed that left-handed pitcher Blake Snell and right-handed relief pitcher Blake Treinen will start their rehab assignment this week.
Treinen, 37, will make his first minor league rehab appearance tonight with the Triple-A OKC Comets, his first appearance since April 13th.
The veteran right-hander has been on the injured list with a right forearm strain, but it was a minor one and not considered season-ending.
Treinen re-signed with Los Angeles over the winter, rejoining the defending champions on a 2-year, $22 million contract. This season, the righty has posted a 3.38 ERA in eight innings of work.
Snell, 32, has only made two starts for Los Angeles this season, getting placed on the 15-day injured list shortly after leaving his second start against the Atlanta Braves in April.
The two-time Cy Young Award winner inked a massive 5-year, $182 million deal with the Dodgers over the winter and has missed significant time on the injured list with left shoulder inflammation.
Snell was finally cleared to ramp up his throwing program last month and has worked his way up from flat ground throwing to bullpen sessions and, most recently, facing live hitters.
The next step for Snell will be his first in-game appearance with the Rancho Quakes tomorrow, likely expected to pitch one to two innings.
Roberts stated that both pitchers would begin a rehab assignment before the break and should be ready for activation by the end of July.
