ARLINGTON—The Los Angeles Dodgers picked up a 1-0 shutout win on Easter Sunday in Arlington, Texas. They took two of three against the 2023 World Series Champion Texas Rangers and have won five of their last six games. However, perhaps the biggest win today was that Tyler Glasnow will not be placed on the injured list.

Earlier today, Dodgers right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow was removed from the game after dealing with a lower leg cramp issue. Despite the injury today, Glasnow gave the Dodgers four shutout innings while punching out six Rangers hitters and allowing just one walk.

After the game, Tyler Glasnow stated that he was fine, and it was an issue that bothered him last year while the team was in Toronto, Canada, against the Blue Jays.

The cramps started to bother Glasnow in the third inning of today’s game and forced the trainers to come out to talk with the righty after spiking a curveball in the fourth inning.

Glasnow would head out in the fifth inning but would be removed after just one pitch, handing the keys over to the Dodgers’ bullpen in a 0-0 ballgame.

“It happens sporadically,” Glasnow said. “It’s not like a fatigue thing. I’ve tested the hydration. I’m not really sure why it keeps happening. It hasn’t happened in a while…After a while, it just gets to the point where it’s fully locked up. I’m not sure why.”

Despite the setback, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts expects Glasnow to pitch his next start, which is on Sunday at Dodger Stadium against his former team, the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The Dodgers are already getting hit with the injury bug in their pitching staff. Lefty Blake Snell has been out for the last two weeks with shoulder inflammation.

Clayton Kershaw and Tony Gonsolin are amid their lengthy rehab assignments in the minor leagues. And prior to yesterday’s game, the Dodgers placed veteran righty Blake Treinen on the 15-day injured list with forearm tightness.

Glasnow, in particular, has battled injuries throughout his career, including a season-ending elbow injury last September that forced the righty to miss all of October.

Glasnow stated his goal this season is to remain on the mound and finish the season healthy, and even Dave Roberts today said that despite the injury, Glasnow has been trying.

“He’s dealing with things, and sometimes it seems like something different,” Roberts said. “But it’s not from lack of desire. I’m sure no one’s more frustrated than he is. Especially when you’re pitching well.”

Hopefully, the leg cramps for Glasnow are a one-off thing, and on Sunday, he’ll be good to go for his next start.
