I guess if you work for a place for 66 years, you get some perks, even after retirement. Former Dodger play-by-play man Vin Scully took to social media on Monday to share a picture of him sporting his very own 2020 World Series ring.
Scully, now 93 years old, retired from broadcasting in 2016, just before the Dodgers started on their epic run of three World Series in four years. It is only fitting that Scully would get this ring. He has been the voice of the franchise for some of its most thrilling moments, including the classic Gibson homer in the ’88 series, which will be forever thought of as one of his greatest moments as a sportscaster.
Though we’re big Joe and Orel fans here at DodgersBeat, we feel a little sad that Vin was not able to call one last Dodgers World Series victory before he called it quits. Maybe somebody can coax him out of retirement to do an inning this October. I know every Dodger fan in the world would love it.
In the meantime, he’s got the hardware to prove he will always be a Dodger.
