Dodgers News: World Series Schedule for Mariners or Blue Jays
The Dodgers are heading back to the World Series, but their opponent is undecided
LOS ANGELES, CA—Fresh off a sweep of the Milwaukee Brewers in the best-of-seven National League Championship Series, the Los Angeles Dodgers are heading back to the Fall Classic for the second consecutive season and their fifth time over the last nine years.
The Dodgers are looking to become the first back-to-back champions in over twenty-four years, which last came during the New York Yankees ’ three-peat during the 1998-2000 seasons.
The Dodgers, having secured their spot in the World Series, are now waiting to find out whether they’ll face the Seattle Mariners or the Toronto Blue Jays. The team they compete against will not only decide the champion but also determine who will have home-field advantage in the 2025 World Series.
During the regular season, the Blue Jays held the best record among postseason teams with 94-68. The Dodgers finished close behind at 93-69, narrowly above the Mariners, who went 90-72. A key series sweep by the Dodgers at T-Mobile Park in the final weekend secured home-field advantage for a potential World Series clash.
Game One of the 2025 World Series will start on Friday, October 24th. Unlike last postseason, the schedule no longer has a flexible date that depends on the length of the Championship Series in either league.
The World Series will still remain in the standard 2-3-2 format, with potential Game Seven taking place on Saturday, November 1st, and the two off days taking place on Sunday, October 26th, and Thursday, October 30th.
