ANAHEIM, CA — Prior to tonight’s game against the Los Angeles Angels Dodgers, manager Dave Roberts announced that rookie right-handed pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto will be activated off the 60-day injured list and make his second-half debut against the Chicago Cubs on September 10th.

Japanese reports suggest that Yamamoto could face Shota Imanaga. Yamamoto has pitched four innings in two rehab starts with Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate OKC.

Yoshinobu’s final line from his two rehab starts with OKC was four innings pitched, five strikeouts, and a 1.25 WHIP. His fastball has had consistent velocity, reaching 96mph, and was barely missing the outer strike zone.

His curve and breaking pitches looked great, and with the break after the freeway series and back to familiar ground, Yamamoto could give the Dodgers another quality starter that will eat up innings.

So far this season, Yoshinobu Yamamoto has been 6-2 with a 2.92 ERA, 1.07 WHIP in fourteen games started this season, and will have around three weeks to prepare for the 2024 postseason.
