Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts stated that RHP Yoshinobu Yamamoto was scheduled for a second rehab start with Dodgers Triple-A Affiliate OKC tonight. The goal was for Yamamoto to pitch three innings and one inning in the bullpen.

It was apparent that the Dodgers organization wanted Yamamoto to concentrate on his fastball placement. Eighty percent of his pitches were fastballs and just missing the outside corners, when he threw his breaking ball, curve ball, and splitter they were all very effective.

In his first inning, he gave up a walk, double, and two ground balls that Sugarland capitalized on to score two runs. Yamamoto was ahead of all six batters with an 0-2 count but could not find the outer corners strike zone to but batters away. The batter he did sit down was with a nasty curveball.

In the second inning, Yamamoto delivered 17 pitches before giving up a walk to the first batter he faced. He struck out the next two batters, one with a slider and he got his first strikeout with his fastball. Yamamoto’s pitch count was at fifty-three (more than he threw on his first rehab) at the end of the second inning.

Yoshinobu’s final line from tonight’s rehab start, 2IP / 2H / 2ER / 2BB / 3K / 53P / 36S. Dodgers fans will have to wait for Dave Roberts post-game interview after tonight’s freeway series with the Angels to see what the Dodger’s organization will do with Yamamoto after his second rehab start. OKC has seventeen more games to play before there 2024 season ends, time will be tight if Yoshinobu does another rehab start.
