LOS ANGELES— Prior to today’s game against the Detroit Tigers, we got plenty of updates surrounding some key pitchers on the Dodgers roster who are currently on the injured list.

Veteran left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw confirmed today that he’ll face hitters tomorrow at Dodger Stadium as he enters the next rehab phase from offseason knee and toe surgery.

Kershaw, 37, was transferred to the 60-day Injured List prior to the start of the Tokyo Series and is not eligible to be activated until the end of May.

The future Hall of Fame pitcher also shared that he hopes to be pitching in games by the end of May, whether rehab or simulated and confirmed that his rehab is going well and things are on schedule.

Right-handed pitchers Evan Phillips and Tony Gonsolin (who was sporting a newly shaved head) were also seen on the field today throwing hitters.

Both pitchers were placed on the 15-day Injured List prior to the start of the Tokyo Series.

Phillips, 30, had his spring delayed due to a PRP injection this winter after suffering from a tear in his rotator cuff. The injury is not considered to be season-ending and is the same one that forced him to miss last year’s World Series against the New York Yankees.

Gonsolin, 30, missed all of last season due to rehab from Tommy John surgery, which the righty underwent in the second half of the 2023 regular season.

Despite appearing in multiple minor league rehab games last season, the Dodgers did not need his service in October. Gonsolin was placed on the 15-day Injured List due to a lower back injury suffered in the weight room, which in turn awarded Dustin May the fifth spot in the Dodgers starting rotation.

The Catman also confirmed that this was his second time facing hitters. Next time, he’ll go three innings, whether it’s in a simulated game or a minor league rehab assignment.

Side note: Gonsolin also stated that it was Miguel Rojas, and Anthony Banda shaved his head, a new look for the 2025 season.

Lastly, right-handed relief pitcher Michael Kopech was seen throwing off flat ground today after missing all of spring training with an arm and shoulder injury.

Bob Nightengale of USA Today Sports reported back in the winter that Kopech was suffering from forearm tightness, which prompted the Dodgers to sign veteran arm Kirby Yates.

Kopech was placed on the 15-day Injured List with a right shoulder impingement and had his throwing progression interrupted at camp due to an illness.
