Dodgers Notes: Glasnow Faces Hitters, Treinen & Snell Toss Another Bullpen

LOS ANGELES, CA — Before Game One of a three-game weekend series against the San Francisco Giants, the Los Angeles Dodgers had another wave of encouraging news on the injured pitching front with multiple arms providing significant progress on their rehab, including Tyler Glasnow, Blake Snell, and Blake Treinen.
Tyler Glasnow Faced Live Hitters
For the first time since being placed on the 15-day injured list in May, Dodgers right-handed starter Tyler Glasnow faced live hitters in one simulated inning on Friday at Dodger Stadium.
Prior to this, Glasnow had successfully completed three separate bullpen sessions, with his most recent being on Tuesday in Los Angeles while the team was on the road in San Diego.
During that session, Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior stated that Glasnow was sitting between 95-96 mph with his fastball and had remained pain-free since the “general body soreness” fiasco a few weeks back.
Overall, it was a one-inning simulated inning but a massive first step for Glasnow, who is not eligible to return until June 26th after being transferred to the 60-day injured list in May.
Blake Snell Tosses Second Bullpen Session
Joining Tyler Glasnow on the bump today was lefty Blake Snell, who also tossed his second bullpen session since getting shut down in April with left shoulder discomfort.
Both Glasnow and Snell threw their respective bullpen sessions on Tuesday, with Snell doing his at his old stomping grounds at Petco Park during the Dodgers’ three-game series in San Diego this week.
Snell tossed twenty pitches during today’s session, five more than Tuesday, and was still throwing all fastballs, which clocked in the mid-90s, according to Dodgers insider Dave Vassegh.
Snell stated on Tuesday that he has been pain-free for about two weeks, which was an amazing feeling the lefty had not felt since putting on a Dodger uniform this spring.
Blake Treinen, the Latest Bullpen Arm to Ramp up Rehab
Lastly, Dodgers veteran right-handed bullpen arm Blake Treinen is the latest arm to begin ramping up on his throwing program, confirming that today’s bullpen session was his second since being placed on the 15-day injured list in mid-April.
Treinen indicated that he threw “a tick under max effort today” but was happy with the results, with it being so early in the process of his rehab.
Treinen is still throwing exclusively fastballs and sinkers, but everything is trending in the right direction.
The Dodgers lost Treinen due to a low-grade right forearm strain, which has been managed by the Dodgers, shutting down the righty from throwing.
The Dodgers transferred Treinen to the 60-day injured list not long after, not expecting him to return anytime soon. But now that it’s confirmed he’s throwing off a mound again, it’s the latest positive news to come out of Los Angeles with their pitching situation.
