If the Los Angeles Dodgers miss out on signing fan favorite Teoscar Hernandez, would Seiya Suzuki from the Chicago Cubs be a good option for the Dodgers?

Seiya Suzuki signed a 5-year, $85,000,000 contract in 2022 with the Chicago Cubs. Included a $5,000,000 signing bonus, $85,000,000 guaranteed, and an average annual salary of $17,000,000. In 2025, Suzuki will earn a base salary of $18,000,000, while carrying a total salary of $19,000,000. He will also be a free agent in 2027.

The past two seasons, Suzuki has gone on the injured list with a left oblique strain in 2023 and a right oblique strain in 2024. In 2024 he was ranked ninth in the league with a .283 batting average, eighth with a .366 on base percentage, and tenth with a .482 slug percentage.

Suzuki is 30-year-old right-handed batter who plays the corner outfield. He has good speed and good lateral movement with above average arm strength.

Stats: 512AB / 145H / 21HR / 73RBI / 16SB / .283AVG / .366OBP / .848OPS / .609SLG / 3.6WAR / 138WRC+. Played 72 games in right field and had 150 put-outs, 5 assists, 3 errors, 3 double plays, and .981 fielding percentage.

Cubs X

Even though Suzuki is not a left-handed bat. He could be a real good option to fill an open spot in right field. He does not cost a lot of money and will be a free agent in 2027. If Teoscar does not sign with the Dodgers, Seiya Suzuki could be a solid pickup for the Dodgers.
