Dodgers Opinion: Dodgers move on to the NLCS. Who will need to step it up against the New York Mets?

After an exciting NLDS against the San Diego Padres. The Los Angeles Dodgers move onto the NLCS to face off against the New York Mets. The Dodgers will face off against RHP Kodai Senga in game one of the NLCS at 5:15 PST in Dodgers Stadium.

With Mookie Betts, Kiki Hernandez, Gavin Lux, Teoscar Hernandez doing damage in the Dodgers wins over San Diego. Here are three names who will need to start getting their bats warmed up to help win the series over the Mets and move the Dodgers onto the World Series.

Dodgers X

Will Smith In the post season Smith has 16AB / 2H / 1HR / 2RBI / 4BB / 2SO / 1SB / .125AVG / .300OBP / .313SLG / .613OPS. The Dodgers will need Smith’s bat to heat up to get key hits with runners in scoring position, home runs to pick the team up when needed and on get his on base percentage up.

Shohei Ohtani In the series against the Padres, Ohtani had 20AB / 4H / 1HR / 4RBI / 2BB / 10SO / .200AVG / .273OBP / .350SLG / .623OPS. Ohtani is the leadoff hitter, and the team is relying him to get on base and move the bottom of line-up when runners are in scoring position. His chasing of pitches is back and needs to be corrected if the Dodgers want to move onto the World Series. The team cannot have their leadoff hitter striking out ten times in this series.

Tommy Edman Padres series, Edman had 17AB / 4H / 1RBI / 2SO / 2SB / .235AVG / .235OBP / .235SLG / .470OPS. Like Will Smith, Edman will need to move runners in scoring position, get his on base percentage up, steal more bases to get into scoring position, put the ball into gaps to use his speed for potential doubles, and keep doing what has worked. Laying down a crucial bunt to move runners.

If these three players can get back on track and do what fans have seen them do in the regular season, the Dodgers will move onto the World Series. This offense has the capability of scoring a lot of runs to open a game up or start a much needed come back to get the win.
