While the Los Angeles Dodgers 2025 regular season is already officially underway after their two-game sweep in Tokyo, Japan, against the Chicago Cubs, that roster featured thirty-one total players, five more than the traditional 26-man roster when they return to the States for domestic Opening Day.
However, after the latest round of roster cuts, the 26-man roster is starting to take shape and could look like this below:
Two-way (1): Shohei Ohtani
Pitchers (13): Anthony Banda, Ben Casparius, Jack Dreyer, Luis García, Tyler Glasnow, Dustin May, Roki Sasaki, Tanner Scott, Blake Snell, Blake Treinen, Alex Vesia, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Kirby Yates
Catcher (2): Austin Barnes, Will Smith
Infielders (4): Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy, Miguel Rojas
Outfielders (3): Michael Conforto, Teoscar Hernández, Andy Pages,
Utility (3): Tommy Edman, Chris Taylor, Kiké Hernández
Prior to the start of the Tokyo Series, the Dodgers made several roster moves, including multiple moves to the injured list and other options to the minor leagues.
60-day Injured List (3): Clayton Kershaw, Brusdar Graterol, Michael Grove
15-day Injured List (6): Evan Phillips, Kyle Hurt, Michael Kopech, Tony Gonsolin, Emmet Sheehan, Edgardo Henriquez
Overall, this is about where many expected the roster to be to start the season. The only surprising aspect is that the Dodgers chose to send down utilityman Hyeseong Kim to Triple-A OKC.
Luis García and Jack Dreyer will get an optimal runway for the first weeks of the season due to the injuries to multiple bullpen arms, such as Kopech and Phillips, who are both expected to return in April.
However, after a great spring outing by lefty Justin Wrobleski and righty Landon Knack, they’ll also get opportunities to return to the Major Leagues, especially Dreyer and García struggle.
