Dodgers Preview: Dodgers Close Out Homestand with Three-Game Set Against DBacks

LOS ANGELES— After an embarrassing weekend series sweep loss to their Freeway rival, the Los Angeles Angels, the Los Angeles Dodgers close out their nine-game homestand with a three-game stand against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Dodgers are coming off a disastrous weekend, being swept at home by the Angels for the first time since the 2010 Major League season. Despite the return of veteran lefty Clayton Kershaw, the Dodgers’ starting rotation has been left with more questions than answers as we approach the end of May.

Still, the Dodgers head into today’s game and three-game series one game up in the National League West standings with a record of 29-18 and while the Dodgers have lost six of their last ten games, so to have the San Diego Padres who also took a series sweep loss to the Seattle Mariners.

The Arizona Diamondbacks continue to hover around .500 despite having one of the best offenses in Major League Baseball this season. Despite winning six of their last ten games, the Snakes still sit alone in fourth place in the super competitive National League West at 25-22, four games out of first place and three games behind the San Francisco Giants.

Who’s in & who’s out?

The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to activate 2024 National League All-Star Teoscar Hernández this week off the 10-day injured list after he completed a weekend rehab assignment with the Single-A Rancho Quakes.

The Dodgers already activated super utilityman Tommy Edman off the 10-day injured list yesterday, which prompted the Dodgers to make the shocking move and DFA long-time veteran Chris Taylor.

The Dodgers also added to their lengthy pitching injured list with right-handed relief pitcher Kirby Yates being placed on the 15-day injured list with a right hamstring strain.

Yates was forced to exit Saturday night’s game against the Angels after facing five batters and retiring only one. He was charged with three earned runs and took the loss in the Dodgers’ 11–9 defeat. The injury became apparent after Yates walked Jo Adell and was seen clutching his right hamstring in visible pain.

Not much has changed on the injury front for the D-Backs since the two teams’ weekend series last week. However, left-handed starting pitcher Eduardo RodrĂguez was placed on the injured list after leaving his start against the Dodgers early.

Another arm that will rejoin the Diamondbacks bullpen, an area they need all the help they can get, is Kendall Graveman, who had missed the entire season until this point.

Graveman, 34, was activated last week and has a 3.00 ERA in three innings this season.
