CHICAGO — Don’t look now, but the Los Angeles Dodgers have won five of their last six games and are tied for the Major League lead in wins at sixteen after taking two of three against the Texas Rangers.

The Dodgers will continue their short five-game road trip in an early-season rematch with the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field.

The Dodgers swept the Cubs in Tokyo, Japan, to begin the 2025 Major League Baseball season, but the Cubs were able to take two of three earlier this month at Dodger Stadium.

However, even with that series win, the Cubs are 5-5 over their last ten games, including dropping a series against the San Diego Padres last week but rebounding by taking two of three against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

The Dodgers, as mentioned, are hot despite their lackluster offense, which Blake Harris showcases on X stating the Dodgers offense since April 3rd ranks 26th in Runs, 28th in Hits, 25th in Average, 22nd in OBP, 19th in Slugging, 20th in OPS, 22nd in wRC+, and 20th in K% but have still gotten the job done sweeping the Colorado Rockies and taking a pitching friendly series in Arlington.

The Dodgers lead the season series 3-2 and look to clinch it with a win either Tuesday with righty Dustin May or Wednesday with a planned bullpen game.

Pitching match-ups

Who’s in & who’s out?

On Saturday, the Los Angeles Dodgers placed veteran right-handed pitcher Blake Treinen on the 15-day injured list with forearm tightness.

Treinen, 36, had an MRI over the weekend, which showed a mild right forearm strain, something you don’t want to hear from one of your best bullpen arms in the late stages of his career.

However, Dodgers manager Dave Roberts downplayed the severity of the injury, stating that conservative rehab and no surgery needed are massively dodged bullets.

In Blake’s place, the Dodgers reactivated right-handed pitcher Evan Phillips off the 15-day injured list, and the righty made two appearances over the weekend, collecting three K’s in one inning pitched.

Right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow is also expected to dodge the injured list for now after being removed from Sunday’s game in the fifth inning with lower leg cramps.

Despite the injury, Glasnow was able to toss four scoreless innings before handing the keys to the bullpen.

Veteran left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw and righty Tony Gonsolin are each expected to make a rehab start this week. Gonsolin is expected to get five innings of work and could be activated off the 15-day injured list afterward.

Blake Snell has been out for two weeks with shoulder inflammation, but did toss a bullpen session over the weekend. It was a thirty-pitch session, but the lefty does not have a timetable for his return.

With Shohei Ohtani missing the first two games against the Texas Rangers while on the paternity list, the Dodgers had to make several roster changes on the injured list and 40-man roster.

The first step was adding veteran outfielder Eddie Rosario to the 40-man roster, which led the team to transfer Edgardo Henriquez to the 60-day injured list.

When the Dodgers added right-handed pitcher Noah Davis to the 40-man roster, the team transferred righty Emmet Sheehan to the 60-day injured list as the corresponding move.

Not much has changed for the Chicago Cubs injury-wise since the two team’s three-game series last weekend at Dodger Stadium; however, one arm for the Cubbies will not be returning this year.

Left-handed pitcher Justin Steele underwent season-ending UCL surgery after being placed on the 15-day injured list with right elbow discomfort and should return in about one year.
