Fresh off a four-and-two six-game road trip and a Monday off day, the Dodgers are returning home for a three-game series against their National League West rival Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Dodgers look to get back on track after dropping a series to the San Fransisco Giants over the weekend. However, they are still six-and-four over their last ten games and still hold a seven-and-a-half-game lead over the second-place San Diego Padres.
The Diamondbacks, who have faced challenges throughout the season, are still striving to find their footing. As the defending National League Champions, they are currently two games under .500 and two-and-a-half games back of the third National League Wild Card. This series is crucial for them to turn their season around.
In their six meetings this season, the two clubs have been even, with both sides having three wins and three losses. However, the big storyline will be how Bobby Miller will look in game one after his first two starts have been disastrous on the road.

Who’s in & who’s out?
The Los Angeles Dodgers, entering this series, have mostly stayed the same on the injury front except getting multiple updates on key players currently on the injured list.
Max Muncy, a key player for the Dodgers, has taken a significant step in his recovery. He has joined the team in San Francisco and has started swinging a bat for the first time in weeks as he continues to rehab from an oblique injury he suffered in mid-May. This progress brings hope for his return to the field.
Dave Roberts also gave an update about right-handed pitcher Joe Kelly, who has been on the injured list since May 6th with a shoulder strain. The veteran relief pitcher will be back after the All-Star break.
Right-handed pitchers Dustin May and Brusdar Graterol have continued their throwing program as each pitcher hopes to return at some point this season.
There have been few updates on Walker Buehler’s and Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s status since each pitcher was placed on the injured list two weeks ago.
The Diamondbacks have been grappling with a major issue this season-injuries. The absence of key players from their lineup and starting rotation has been a significant factor contributing to their inconsistent performance.
Outfielder Alek Thomas has been out since March 31st with a hamstring injury and is expected to be activated in the first week of July, but that will not be during this series.
Diamondbacks catcher Gabriel Moreno also missed significant time due to a left thumb strain, which he suffered when hit by a pitch against the Phillies on July 21st. Moreno caught a bullpen this past weekend but is still expected to return by mid-July.
However, the two biggest injuries to the Diamondbacks this season have been to Eduardo Rodríguez and Merrill Kelly. The latter has been out for the entire 2024 season but will not return until mid-late July.
