Los Angeles Dodgers (2-0) Versus Detroit Tigers (0-0)
LOS ANGELES— The defending World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers resume the 2025 Major League Baseball regular season at Chavez Ravine for the team’s home opener at Dodger Stadium.
After taking a two-game series sweep in Tokyo, Japan, against the Chicago Cubs, the Dodgers will look to continue their winning streak until the end of March with the young and surprising Detroit Tigers, who last season went from trade deadline sellers to an appearance in the American League Division Series.
Unlike the Detroit Tigers of the early 2010s, this iteration of the club is led first by their pitching and elite bullpen, headlined by 2024 American League Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal, who will take the ball in Game One against two-time Cy Young Award winner Blake Snell.
After a two-week hiatus, Mookie Betts returned to the Dodgers lineup to complete the MVP trio atop a stacked Dodgers lineup that looks to celebrate their 2024 World Series title this homestand with a pregame ring ceremony on Friday.

Who’s in & who’s out?
It wouldn’t be regular-season baseball in Dodger Land without some pitching injuries. Last week, before the start of the Tokyo Series at the Tokyo Dome, the Dodgers transferred several players to the injured list, all of them pitchers.
Moving to the 60-day Injured List is veteran lefty Clayton Kershaw, who is aiming for a June return to the Dodgers starting rotation after knee and toe surgery this offseason. Michael Grove underwent season-ending shoulder surgery, and Brusdar Graterol is recovering from offseason shoulder repair and is expecting a mid-summer return.
The Dodgers bullpen will also be without key arms, such as Evan Phillips, who received a PRP injection to his rotator cuff this winter and is eying an April return, and righty Michael Kopech, who came into camp with a right shoulder impingement.
60-day Injured List (5): Clayton Kershaw, Brusdar Graterol, Michael Grove, Gavin Stone, River Ryan
15-day Injured List (6): Evan Phillips, Kyle Hurt, Michael Kopech, Tony Gonsolin, Emmet Sheehan, Edgardo Henriquez
As for the Detroit Tigers, they are also dealing with the injury bug to begin the 2025 regular season.
Center fielder Wenceel Pérez is expected to be out until mid-May after suffering back inflammation and receiving the first of two cortisone injections on March 28th.
Outfielders Parker Meadows and Matt Vierling are each dealing with upper body injuries that will keep them off the active roster until late April or early May.
Right-handed pitcher Alex Cobb is suffering right hip inflammation and won’t return until mid-summer, as is the same for righty Alex Lange, who’s recovering from lat surgery.
Then, rounding out their injury report are a few pitchers. Right-handed pitchers Sawyer Gipson-Long, Ty Madden, José Urquidy, Tyler Mattison, and Wilmer Flores are all expected to be out until mid-summer.
60-day Injured List (4): Parker Meadows, Alex Lange, Sawyer Gipson-Long, José Urquidy
