After a horrible homestand two weeks ago, the Dodgers have won four straight series, two of which were against NL postseason contenders in the Arizona Diamondbacks and Atlanta Braves. However, now the team will welcome the Miami Marlins a struggling team who have already indicated that the 2024 season will not be their year trading away 2023 NL batting champ Luis Arráez.

Who’s in & who’s out?
For the Los Angeles Dodgers, the same typical names are still out for this series, such as Bobby Miller, Kyle Hurt, Jason Heyward, and Brusdar Graterol. However, the team also placed right-handed relief pitcher Ryan Brasier on the 15-day IL at the start of the Diamondbacks series with a calf strain.
The Dodgers also optioned rookie right-handed pitcher Landon Knack to make room for J.P. Feyereisen who is now at his third stint in the majors after disappointing his first two times up.
Evan Phillips will be another arm that will be out for this series an beyond due to a grade one hamstring that he suffered during warm ups this past weekend. His spot on the roster was taken by right-handed relief pitcher Blake Treinen who rejoined the team for this first time in nearly two years.
However, the biggest transaction is the return of Dodgers right-handed pitcher Walker Buehler, who is making his first start since June 2022. Buehler has been on a rehab assignment and made six starts, going 0-2 with a 4.15 ERA, allowing 26 hits, ten earned runs, and 21 strikeouts in 21.2 innings.
The Dodgers are hoping that Buehler can show flashes of his 2018-2021 self as Buehler had a collective 2.82 ERA in 564 innings, striking out 620 batters with an ERA+ of 146, 3.16 FIP, and a 9.9 K/9, winning 39 games in that span.
The Miami Marlins have also been battling the injury bug, as they have plenty of players on the IL who are dealing with injuries. They will continue to be without 3B Jake Burger, who is on a rehab assignment after suffering a left intercostal strain.
Infielder/outfielder Xavier Edwards will also be out as he recovers from a left-foot infection he suffered on March 5th. Outfielder Avisaíl García is in the IL with a hamstring issue, and there is no timetable for a return.
On the pitching side, the Marlins are spread thin. Left-handed pitchers Braxton Garrett (left shoulder impingement) and Jesús Luzardo (left elbow tightness) are on the 15-day IL. Their starting rotation is already without Sandy Alcantara, who is recovering from Tommy John Surgery, and Eury Perez, who was placed on the 60-day IL a few weeks ago with his own UCL tear, ending his 2024 season.
Also out are left-handed pitcher A.J. Puk (shoulder fatigue) and former Dodgers right-handed pitcher JT Chargois, who are both on the 15-day IL.
