Who’s in & who’s out?
Over the past two weeks, the Los Angeles Dodgers have made two significant additions to the pitching department in Walker Buehler and Blake Treinen; however, all their other IL players will remain inactive for this series.
The Dodgers bullpen has suffered massive blows losing Joe Kelly, Evan Phillips, and Ryan Brasier on the last road trip, adding to a list that already includes Brusdar Graterol, Kyle Hurt, and Emmet Sheehan.
In the starting rotation, Bobby Miller began throwing off a mound in San Diego and will face live batters sometime over the next few days. Left-handed hitting outfielder Jason Heward is set to begin his rehab assignment on Tuesday and will likely rejoin the team this weekend if all goes well.
The San Fransisco Giants have also had their fair share of injuries over the past two weeks.
For starters in the rotation, they will be without left-handed 2023 Cy Young winner Blake Snell, who was placed on the 15-day IL with a left adductor strain after getting off to a disastrous start.
The Giants will also be without Michael Conforto, who was placed on the 10-day Injured List with a right hamstring injury in the Giants’ 5-1 win on May 11th and is expected to miss an extended amount of time.
Outfielder Austin Slater was also placed on the IL due to a concussion, which will keep him out until mid-late May, along with power bat Jorge Soler, who is out with a right shoulder strain.
Rounding out the 10-day IL is Giants shortstop Nick Ahmed, who is out with a left wrist strain. He suffered a 108 mph liner off his left wrist during a game against the Pirates on April 27. Ahmed underwent an MRI exam on May 10 that revealed the sprain, which will likely sideline him for a couple of weeks.
