Who’s in & who’s out?
The Dodgers transaction page stayed busy this past week, with the major moves centered on Jason Heyward‘s activation off the 10-day IL.
With Heyward’s return the Dodgers made the tough decision to option left-handed center fielder James Outman to Triple-A OKC while also placing Max Muncy of the 10-day IL with a mild right oblique strain. In his absence, the Dodgers recalled INF/OF Miguel Vargas for his second crack at the Major League level.
The Dodgers also recalled right-handed pitcher Landon Knack for a spot start yesterday, giving the rotation an extra day of rest between this thirteen-day marathon the team is on.
Anthony Banda, whom the Dodgers acquired from the Cleveland Guardians for cash considerations this past week, also made his debut, picking up the win in Sunday’s series finale against the Reds.
As usual, the Dodgers will also continue to be without multiple players, including Ryan Brasier, Joe Kelly, Evan Phillips, Bobby Miller, and Brusdar Graterol.
The Diamondbacks will continue to be without many key players for this series, such as Merrill Kelly and Eduardo Rodríguez, who each started the season on the IL.
The D-Backs will also be without speedster Alec Thomas due to a strained left hamstring that Thomas suffered back on March 31 against the Rockies. The D-Backs will also be without Geraldo Perdomo, who is on the 15-day IL with a right meniscus tear and will return possibly in June.
