After a 3-3 six-game homestand, the Dodgers travel to the Rocky Mountains to face their National League West division rival, the Colorado Rockies, for a short four-game road trip.

With a recent series win against the second-place Kansas City Royals, the Dodgers are riding high. They have a 6-4 record over their last ten games and an impressive 20-14 record on the road, showcasing their strength away from home.

The Rockies, who are alone in last place in the NL West with a 25-46 record, have only four wins over their last ten games and are 1-2 vs. the Dodgers this season.

However, despite the Dodgers trending upward, they suffered two massive blows this past weekend, losing not only Yoshinobu Yamamoto but also shortstop Mookie Betts for an extended period of time.

Pitching match-ups

Game One: James Paxton (LHP) (6-1, 3.92 ERA) vs Cal Quantrill (6-4, 3.30 ERA)

Who’s in & who’s out?

The Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to get a huge boost to the starting rotation with Bobby Miller’s activation of the 15-day IL. Miller has been sidelined since April with shoulder inflammation, but after four rehab appearances, he is finally expected to rejoin the Dodgers in Colorado.

Over the weekend, the Dodgers also recalled right-handed pitcher J.P. Feyereisen and selected Michael Petersen‘s contract as the corresponding move for placing Michael Grove and Yamamoto on the 15-day IL.

The Dodgers will also be recalling Miguel Vargas, who will rejoin the team this series after being placed on the 10-day IL. Vargas will replace Mookie Betts on the roster.

The Dodgers will be without Yamamoto and Betts for an extended period of time as Betts has a fractured left hand and Yamamoto has a strained rotator cuff. Both are considered not to be season-ending.

Kyle Hurt has continued to get work on his rehab assignment in the minor leagues and could rejoin the Dodgers bullpen in a few weeks. Joe Kelly was transferred to the 60-day IL with fellow relief pitcher Ryan Brasier to make room for Petersen.

The Colorado Rockies are grappling with a wave of injuries, with several key players currently on the injured list. This situation has significantly affected their everyday lineup, highlighting the challenges they are currently facing.

Center fielder Brenton Doyle was scratched with left patellar tendinitis. The injury was not considered serious, but the team decided to rest Doyle on Saturday out of precaution, and he did not return to the starting lineup on Sunday.

Right-handed pitcher  Germán Márquez is continuing to rehab after having Tommy John Surgery. He made his second rehab start this past week but is not expected to rejoin the team soon.

Right-handed pitcher Jake Bird is still out with right elbow inflation but, like Márquez, is currently on a rehab assignment but will not rejoin the team during this series.

The Rockies will also be without second basemen Brendan Rodgers (hamstring), Sean Bouchard (right ankle sprain), catcher Elias Díaz (left calf strain), and INF/OF Kris Bryant, who is out with a left rib contusion and oblique strain.
