The Los Angeles Dodgers rebounded nicely after losing two of three in San Diego over the weekend, taking their next series against their NL West rival San Francisco Giants.

The Dodgers return to Chavez Ravine going 3-3 on their short six-game road trip and will host the somewhat disappointing Cincinnati Reds for a four-game series.

Despite a .500 road trip, the Los Angeles Dodgers have been in top form, winning seven of their last ten games. In contrast, the Cincinnati Reds have had a rough start, currently sitting in fourth place in the NL Central with an 18-25 record.

The Reds were a surprise team in 2023, going 82-80 and just missing an NL Wild Card spot by two games. Many predicted they would not only make the postseason in 2024 but potentially run away with a weak NL Central.

Pitching match-ups

Game Three: Walker Buehler (0-1, 7.36 ERA) vs Graham Ashcraft (3-2, 4.12 ERA)

Game Four: TBD (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs Hunter Greene (2-2, 3.27 ERA)

Who’s in & who’s out?

The Los Angeles Dodgers will continue to be without multiple players such as Brusdar Graterol, Kyle Hurt, Bobby Miller, Emmet Sheehan, and more as they all continue to rehab from their injuries.

Dodgers right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller is working his way to returning soon. He is throwing multiple bullpens and facing live hitters in the Dodgers Arizona complex.

One player who could return is left-handed hitting outfielder Jason Heyward, who has spent the past two days rehabbing with the Dodgers’ Triple-A team. We could possibly see Heyward activated for this series as early as today.

If Heyward is active, one of Chris Taylor or James Outman could be the corresponding move, with either an IL stint for Tyalor or an option for Outman in the minor leagues.

The Dodgers will also have Elieser Hernández remain on the active roster as a bulk innings eater after a strong six-inning debut for the Dodgers in the series finale against the Giants.

The Reds will be without LHP Nick Lodolo, who was placed on the 15-day IL with a left groin strain, and LHP Sam Moll, who was recalled from Triple-A Louisville.

Also, on May 15th, Reds veteran second basemen Jonathan India was considered day-to-day due to a migraine but is expected to be ready for the Thursday night game.
