The Los Angeles Dodgers finish off their six-game road trip returning to New York City, this time facing off against the American League-leading New York Yankees and a three-game inter-league series.

It is a primetime weekend matchup featuring two of the most historic franchises in baseball and all of North American sports. The Yankees, led by newly acquired all-star outfielder Juan Soto and 2022 AL MVP Aaron Judge, face off against the mighty trio of Mookie Betts, Shohei Ohtani, and Freddie Freeman in what could be a preview to this year’s fall classic.

Who’s in & who’s out?

Most things have stayed the same on the Los Angeles Dodgers injury front, as multiple players on the IL are trying to return.

The much-anticipated return of Bobby Miller is drawing near. As he prepares for his third rehab start, the excitement is palpable. While his return may not align with the series against the Yankees, a team he famously shut down in Los Angeles last year, it’s a moment that fans are eagerly awaiting.

Left-handed starter Clayton Kershaw is set to throw a two-inning simulated game in Rancho and will then start playing in rehab games.

Kyle Hurt, who has been MIA since April when he was placed on the injured list, also began throwing in, which is excellent news for a bullpen that could use more arms despite having the third-lowest ERA in the league.

According to Dave Roberts‘s last homestand, Brusdar Graterol has stopped his throwing program, and the beat writers wonder if he will ever return this season.

Joe Kelly and Ryan Brasier are still a ways away from returning, but they are expected to return in 2024.

The New York Yankees are currently healthy, a stark contrast to the 2023 season. This is a significant factor contributing to the team’s smooth journey toward a postseason berth, instilling confidence in their fans.

However, they do have three players on the injured list who will not make an appearance this series: Nick Burdi (right hip inflammation), Clarke Schmidt (right lat strain), and infielder Jon Berti (left calf strain).

However, a story to watch is that all-star and American League MVP favorite Juan Soto was removed from yesterday’s game due to left-arm inflammation, with no further comment from the Yankees.
