Dodgers Preview: Texas Rangers & Seager come to Hollywood in three-game set with Dodgers

via AP

The Los Angeles Dodgers return home after a six-game road trip that saw them split a three-and-three record. Up next is an exciting matchup with the defending 2023 World Series Champion Texas Rangers, which will also be the first regular season game in which former Dodgers all-star shortstop Corey Seager will make his return.

The Dodgers, who sit atop the National League West with a record of 41-26, are hoping to continue to play good baseball after sneaking away with two wins in the Bronx.

The Texas Rangers, who are under .500 but still in Wild Card contention at 31-34, are hoping to live up to their 2023 hype but are a lackluster five-and-five in their last ten games.

Who’s in & who’s out?

The Dodgers’ injury report is the same as it has been for the last few series. However, with the Dodgers gearing up for twelve games in twelve days, it is not uncommon for them to add a pitcher or two during the stretch.

The Dodgers are likely to bring back right-handed pitcher Bobby Miller from the 15-day IL. He has been making a steady recovery, with three rehab starts under his belt. His most recent outing was particularly promising, as he managed to hold the opposition to just two runs over four innings.

Kyle Hurt was also another Dodgers pitcher who made a rehab appearance over the weekend, but his return date is still to be determined.

Updates on the other Dodgers pitchers on the injured list are scarce. We have no new information on Ryan Brasier or Joe Kelly. However, there’s some positive news about right-handed pitcher Brusdar Graterol, who has started to ramp up the intensity of his throwing program. He might even head to Arizona for a few bullpen sessions.

The Texas Rangers are suffering from the injury bug in this series. The big blow is left-handed star Corey Seager, who has missed the last three games with hamstring issues.

Seager, 30, did not play at all in the three-game series with the San Francisco Giants and is expected to be day-to-day for the three-game set with the Dodgers.

The Rangers will also be without Evan Carter, who has been sidelined with lower back soreness. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said on June 4 that Carter’s back injury is a little worse than they thought.

The Rangers, however, have heard encouraging news about veteran right-handed pitcher Max Scherzer, who is currently on his own rehab assignment. Despite the progress, the Dodgers will not be facing Max this series as he hopes to return later this summer.
