Dodgers Recap: Blake Snell’s Rehab Progress Continues with Strong Outing for Oklahoma City Comets in Reno

Blake Snell made his fourth rehab start on Friday, July 26, 2025, for the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets, delivering a promising performance as he continues his recovery from left shoulder inflammation.

Snell, who has been on the injured list since early April, pitched 4 2/3 no-hit innings, showcasing his dominant stuff. He racked up seven strikeouts and threw 76 pitches, a significant increase from his previous outings. While he did issue four walks, the overall command and ability to keep the opposition off the hit column is a positive sign.

This start marks a crucial step in Snell’s rehabilitation, as the Dodgers had aimed for him to reach approximately five innings or 75 pitches. Following this outing, there will be a “real discussion” with manager Dave Roberts about his potential return to the Dodgers’ rotation, possibly as early as next week.

Snell’s rehab assignment has seen him progress through Single-A Rancho Cucamonga, the Arizona Complex League Dodgers, and now two starts with the Triple-A Comets (the Dodgers’ Triple-A affiliate). Across his rehab appearances, he has consistently demonstrated his strikeout ability, compiling 24 strikeouts in total over a limited number of innings.

The Dodgers are eagerly anticipating Snell’s return, as he is a key piece of their rotation after signing a multi-year deal this past offseason. His rejoining the big-league club would provide a significant boost to a pitching staff that has dealt with several injuries this season.

Overall Rehab Stats (through July 26, 2025):

  • Total Innings Pitched: Approximately 13.2 innings across four starts.
  • Strikeouts: 24 (impressive strikeout rate throughout his rehab)
  • ERA: Low, around 2.00 (two earned runs allowed in his first nine rehab innings)
  • WHIP: Low, around 1.00 (indicates good control of baserunners)
