Cactus League Game 13, 3/5/2025: Angels 3, Dodgers 5

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Los Angeles Dodgers took on the Los Angeles Angels this afternoon, with Landon Knack getting the start. Knack ran into trouble early, surrendering a pair of home runs to Mickey Moniak and Mike Trout in the first inning, giving the Angels an early 0-2 lead. His struggles continued throughout his brief outing, as he lasted just two innings, allowing four hits, one walk, and two runs—though Trout’s homer was ruled unearned due to an error from backup catcher Austin Barnes. While it wasn’t Knack’s sharpest performance, he managed to limit the damage and keep the Dodgers within striking distance.

The Dodgers got on the board in the top of the second inning when Andy Pages drove in Kike Hernandez with an RBI groundout to third.

Ben Casparius delivered a stellar performance in relief, showcasing his efficiency and command on the mound. He pitched 1.1 innings, needing just eight pitches to get through his outing, while striking out two batters. Casparius has impressed throughout the spring, making a strong case for a spot on the Dodgers’ Opening Day roster as they prepare for their upcoming trip to Japan.

Eddie Rosario added to the Dodgers’ offense in the top of the fifth, launching a solo shot that trimmed the Angels’ lead by one.

The Dodgers completed their comeback in the sixth inning when Kike Hernandez delivered a crucial two-run double, giving them their first lead at 4-3. The Angels later surrendered another run to the Dodgers due to a throwing error, extending the lead to 5-3.

That score held as the Dodgers secured a well-rounded victory, highlighted by strong pitching and timely hitting in the later innings. With their impressive spring, the team looks to carry the momentum into the regular season. The Dodgers are now 8-6 in Cactus League play this Spring Training.

The Dodgers will return to action tomorrow afternoon when they take on the Texas Rangers at Camelback Ranch. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:05 p.m. PST.
