Dodgers Recap: Dodgers Drop Second Straight to Diamondbacks, NL West Lead Shrinks

Game 136, 8/30/2025: Dodgers 0, Diamondbacks 3

CHAVEZ RAVINE – The Dodgers dropped their second game in a row to the Arizona Diamondbacks on Saturday night, falling 6-1 at Dodger Stadium. With the loss, Los Angeles’ NL West lead is now down to just one game, and the Phillies have pulled ahead by two games for the No. 2 seed in the National League.

Glasnow Strong Until 7th Inning Slip

Tyler Glasnow carried a no-hitter into the sixth inning and looked sharp through most of the night. He struck out six while allowing only four hits across seven innings of work. But a rough top of the seventh inning, capped off by a Diamondbacks home run, turned the game.

Glasnow also revealed a strange start to his night — a bleeding finger before he even took the mound. Despite that, he battled and gave the Dodgers a chance before Arizona broke through.

Offensive Struggles Continue

The Dodgers’ bats went quiet once again. In their last four games against NL West pitchers with ERAs over 5.00, the team has managed just one total runMookie Betts’ two-out RBI single tonight provided their only offense.

Manager Dave Roberts didn’t sugarcoat the lack of production. “We beat ourselves. This is a tough one. I can’t excuse it, or rationalize it,” he said postgame. “Uncharacteristic lack of focus. Whether it’s an at-bat, a play here or there. The mistakes. That can’t happen.”

Roberts also admitted he couldn’t explain why the Dodgers’ offense continues to stall against struggling pitchers. “There’s no excuse for playing up or down to the level of competition recently.”

Kiké Frustrated After Costly Play

One of the turning points came on a play at the plate involving Kiké Hernández. He admitted postgame he didn’t see Mookie Betts signaling for him to slide, and called the Dodgers’ overall performance “frustrating.”

“We’ve come out pretty flat the last two games after the day off,” Hernández said. “We can’t keep doing this. We need to be more consistent.”

Diamondbacks’ Longball Streak at Dodger Stadium

The loss also continued a quirky trend: the Diamondbacks have now homered in 11 straight games at Dodger Stadium, dating back to May 20, 2024.

What’s Next

The Dodgers will try to avoid a sweep as they face right-hander Brandon Pfaadt (5.24 ERA) on Sunday. For a team still holding the division lead but trending in the wrong direction, Roberts made it clear what’s at stake:

“The last couple nights, at some points, it was an unrecognizable ball club,” he said. “We’re still in a decent spot, but we’ve gotta go play. We’ve gotta play better.”
