Dodgers Recap: Dodgers Fall 5–4 to Blue Jays After Late-Inning Homers in Series Finale
Game 118, 8/10/2025: Dodgers 4, Blue Jays 5

CHAVEZ RAVINE — The Los Angeles Dodgers closed out their three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays with a highly anticipated pitching matchup between Tyler Glasnow and Eric Lauer. Glasnow entered the game with a 3.06 ERA over 47 innings. Though injuries have limited him to just 10 starts this season, he has been effective when on the mound, including his most recent outing against the St. Louis Cardinals, where he threw seven innings and struck out seven.
Building on that performance, Glasnow worked 5.2 innings, allowing four hits, two earned runs, and four walks while striking out eight. Command issues surfaced at times, but he still managed to limit the damage and turn in a quality start.
The Dodgers’ offense struck early. In the bottom of the first, Shohei Ohtani launched his 41st home run of the season to open the scoring. A few batters later, Freddie Freeman followed with a solo blast to extend the lead to 2–1. In the bottom of the second, Los Angeles pushed another run across when the Blue Jays walked Freeman with the bases loaded, making it 3–1.
After Glasnow exited in the sixth, Anthony Banda came on to record the final out of the inning. Justin Wrobleski took over in the seventh, recording two outs before giving way to Ben Casparius, who closed out the frame.
The momentum shifted in the eighth when Blake Treinen allowed back-to-back home runs, giving Toronto a 4–3 lead. Treinen finished the inning with two hits, two earned runs, and one strikeout. The Dodgers responded in the bottom half, loading the bases before Freeman drew another bases-loaded walk to tie the game at 4–4.
However, in the ninth, Alex Vesia surrendered a go-ahead solo home run. The Dodgers would load the bases in the ninth but to no avail. The Dodgers were unable to capitalize, and they would lose this matchup 5-4.
Los Angeles will now head to Anaheim to face the Angels, with Yoshinobu Yamamoto slated to start. First pitch is scheduled for 6:38 p.m.
