Game 120, 8/13/2024: Dodgers 7, Brewers 2

MILWAUKEE, WI – After a nice team win that was inspired by the return of Mookie Betts on Monday, the Dodgers came into Tuesday’s game at American Family Field with some momentum and a four-game winning streak.

Will Smith got the Dodgers on the board first with a solo homerun down the left field line, putting the Dodgers up 1-0 in the second inning. Shohei Ohtani tacked onto the lead in the third with a solo shot of his own to make it a 2-0 game.

During the first few innings the Dodgers outfield didn’t help starter Gavin Stone out very much. Andy Pages misplayed a ball in center field and Teoscar Hernandez got a late jump on a ball hit to right field to create an unnecessary jam in the second. Stone, however, was able to get out of the frame with some pinpoint pitches that struck out two batters.

In the bottom of the third inning, with two outs, Stone gave up a two-strike home run to the Brewers’ William Contreras, which pulled Milwaukee to within a run of the Dodgers. In the fourth inning, however, the Dodgers were able to get some separation when Wisconsin native Gavin Lux crushed a homecoming blast into right center field for a two-run home run. The Dodgers opened the game up in the fourth inning scoring a total of five runs with another two-run bomb from Andy Pages and a sacrifice fly from Kike Hernandez.

MLB HR X

Stone was pulled after five good innings pitched and ended his night with one of his best outings in four starts: 86 P / 61 S / 5.0 IP / 3 H / 1 ER / 0 BB / 6 K / 1 HR / 3.63ERA.

Landon Knack finished the game off for Stone with his first big league save, a four-inning job. Knack pitched 64P / 46S / 4.0IP / 3H / 1ER / 0BB / 2K / 3.00ERA. The Rookie pitchers got it done for the Dodgers and gave the bullpen some much needed rest.

On Wednesday, Walker Buehler takes the mound for the Dodgers to try and keep the winning streak alive. You can watch the game on SportsNet LA at 5:10pm PDT.
