Dodgers Recap: Dodgers Secure Series Win Behind Snell’s Dominant Outing and Ohtani’s 40th Homer
Game 117, 08/09/2025: Dodgers 9, Blue Jays 1

CHAVEZ RAVINE — In a commanding performance at home, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 9-0, securing a series victory. The night was highlighted by a stellar pitching outing from Blake Snell and another milestone from superstar Shohei Ohtani.
Blake Snell, in his second start since returning from the injured list, was masterful. He held the hot-hitting Blue Jays lineup scoreless through five innings, setting a new season high with 10 strikeouts. His final line was a testament to his dominance: 5.0 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 3 BB, and 10 K on 90 pitches.
The Dodgers’ offense got on the board in the bottom of the fourth when Max Muncy launched a two-run homer to left field, giving the team an early 2-0 lead. An inning later, Shohei Ohtani added to the lead with a 417-foot blast over the center-field wall for his 40th home run of the season.
The game broke open in the sixth inning with a six-run rally. Dalton Rushing started the scoring with a two-run single, followed by a two-run single from Mookie Betts. Andy Pages capped off the explosive inning with a two-run double, pushing the lead to 9-0.
Toronto managed to get on the scoreboard in the eighth inning when Ernie Clement hit a solo home run off reliever Jack Dreyer. However, it was a minor blip in an otherwise clean victory for the Dodgers.
The win builds momentum for the Dodgers, who are seeing key pitchers return to form and the offense firing on all cylinders. The team will go for a three-game sweep tomorrow afternoon when Tyler Glasnow takes the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 1:10 PM PST and can be watched on SportsNet LA.
