Chavez Ravine, CA — The Los Angeles Dodgers are finally back at blue heaven after a successful road trip where they finished 7-2 in nine games.
It was a battle of the righties on the mound as the Dodgers sent out Gavin Stone, who is coming off the best start of his career last Friday, going seven innings and allowing one run on two hits.
The Braves sent out Charlie Morton, who is coming off a monstrous start of his own as he pitched seven shutout innings while striking out six in his last outing.
Austin Riley breaks the Braves homerless streak of six games and blasts a solo shot deep into the left field pavilion for an early lead.
Will Smith got the scoring bid going by driving in his 24th RBI of the season by way of a single to center. Teoscar Hernandez put the Dodgers on top in the fourth as he slashed his seventh long ball, putting the Dodgers on top 2-1.
In the top half of the eighth, Ronald Acuna Jr. made his presence felt as he hit a no-doubt solo shot to tie the game.
This powerhouse matchup went into extras and the Braves made quick work of putting up a run in the top half of the 10th. With the score 3-2, the 1,2,3 hitters for the Dodgers were due to come up.
Shohei Ohtani answered the call and put his RISP woes on hold as he hit a screamer up the middle that tied the game 3-3.
With runners on the corners in the bottom of the 11th, Andy Pages delivered the biggest hit of his young career as he walked it off with an RBI single and took game one of this anticipated series.
The Dodgers improve to 21-13 and look for the series win tomorrow. Ace flamethrower Tyler Glasnow will take the bump for Los Angeles, while Bryce Elder will take the hill for Atlanta.
