Game 38, 5/7/2024 : Dodgers 8, Marlins 2
Chavez Ravine, CA — The Dodgers are still rolling as they have won 12 of their last 14 games and remain undefeated in this homestand.
They are searching for their sixth consecutive win and hope that Yoshinobu Yamamoto can set the table for that outcome.
The Marlins jumped out extremely early as the first pitch of the game was crushed by the bat of Jazz Chisholm Jr. Max Muncy decided to return the favor and more as with the bases loaded, he cranked a go-ahead grand slam to push the Dodgers on top early 4-1.
The Dodgers would find themselves having the bases loaded again as they score 2 more runs after an Andy Pages sac-fly and throwing error at third committed by the Marlins catcher Christian Bethancourt.
A couple of batters later, with a runner on third, Gavin Lux launched a two-run shot to extend the early onslaught lead of 8-1. This was Lux’s first home run since August of 2022.
All was silent until the sixth inning as Bryan De La Cruz launched a solo shot off Yamamoto for the Marlins second solo home run of the evening.
That would be the last run Yamamoto would give up as he had his best start of the year. His final stat line was 8 IP, 5 H, 2 ER, and 5 K, on 97 pitches. He picked up his first win at Dodger Stadium tonight.
J.P. Feyereisen would retire the Marlins in order in the ninth to secure the series win against Miami and win their sixth straight.
The Dodgers will look for the sweep tomorrow as there is a 12:10 PM PT start with Gavin Stone on the mound for LA and Ryan Weathers for Miami.
