Cactus League Game 3, 2/22/2025: Royals 11, Dodgers 10
GLENDALE, Ariz. — As Spring Training continues, here are some key takeaways from today’s matchup between the Dodgers and Kansas City Royals. The Dodgers came up short in an 11-10 loss, but these early exhibition games are more about preparation than results.
Nick Frasso took the mound for the Dodgers, making his first appearance since September 2023 after undergoing internal brace surgery. In his lone inning of work, the former top pitching prospect impressed, allowing no hits and striking out one. He showcased a strong command of the strike zone and should continue to gain confidence as he builds experience this spring.
Hunter Feduccia delivered an outstanding performance at the plate, going 3-for-3 with five RBIs, including a three-run homer. His offensive display highlighted his power potential and reinforced his ability to be a legitimate threat in the batter’s box.
Max Muncy helped keep the game close early, blasting a three-run homer in the second inning to tie the score at 5-5.
Teoscar Hernández also had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-3. While he didn’t drive in any runs, his ability to make consistent contact was encouraging as he continued preparing for Opening Day.
Later in the game, Zyhir Hope, one of the Dodgers’ top prospects, launched a solo home run in the sixth inning to give L.A. a 10-8 lead. However, the Royals responded in the ninth, rallying to reclaim the lead and handing the Dodgers another Cactus League loss.
Despite the loss, Spring Training is more about player development and preparation than final scores. The Dodgers’ pitching struggled in the late innings, allowing runs in key moments. Still, ultimately, these exhibition games serve as tune-ups rather than a true reflection of regular-season performance.
The Dodgers will be back in action tomorrow at Camelback Ranch in Glendale, Ariz., with the first pitch set for 12:05 p.m. PST.
