Dodgers Recap: Glasnow’s Return Spoiled by Brewers Walk-off in Extras
Game 95, 7/9/2025: Dodgers 2, Brewers 3 (10)

LOS ANGELES — The Dodgers’ losing streak reached six games on Wednesday afternoon in Milwaukee, despite the much-anticipated and solid return of ace Tyler Glasnow. After scratching out a 2–1 lead and leaning on strong pitching for most of the day, Los Angeles watched it slip away late, ultimately falling 3–2 in 10 innings to the Brewers at American Family Field.
Glasnow, making his first start since April 27, delivered exactly what the Dodgers hoped for — five innings of two-hit baseball, flashing mid-90s velocity and crisp breaking stuff. But for all the promise of Glasnow’s return, the Dodgers’ offense couldn’t capitalize, and the bullpen couldn’t hold the lead.
Glasnow threw 85 pitches over five innings, allowing just two hits and one unearned run. He walked three, struck out five, and calmly navigated a bases-loaded jam in the second inning. His only run came in the fifth on a balk followed by a stolen base and a throwing error that allowed Jake Bauers to race home with the Brew Crew’s only run of the game of the Dodgers’ righty.
The moment didn’t rattle him.
Instead, he settled back in and retired seven of the next nine batters, punctuating his outing with a strikeout of Caleb Durbin to end the fifth. That ended his afternoon in a solid comeback to the rotation. Glasnow’s line for the day: 5.0 IP, 2 H, 1 R (0 ER), 3 BB, 5 K. More of this, please.
Out of the visitors’ dugout, the Dodgers’ offense didn’t do much to support their returning warrior, though.
After getting no-hit through four innings by Jose Quintanta, the Dodgers’ first run came in the fifth, when Miguel Rojas drew a two-out walk, advanced to third on an Esteury Ruiz single and steal, and came home when Shohei Ohtani worked a bases-loaded walk on a couple of questionable calls from home plate umpire D.J. Reyburn.
With the game tied 1-1 in the seventh, it was Rojas again sparking a rally. He led off with a single and stole third base with on the front end of a double steal with Hyeseong Kim on first. Ohtani drew another walk to load the bases, and Betts followed with a sacrifice fly to left, giving the Dodgers a 2–1 lead
Tanner Scott gave up the tying run in the bottom of the ninth on a single by pinch-hitter Andrew Vaughn, then handed things off to Yates in the 10th. After William Contreras flew out to deep center, Jackson Chourio delivered the walk-off single to left field, scoring the placed runner Sal Frelick.
It was a crushing end to a game the Dodgers led going into the bottom of the ninth.
The Dodgers stranded 11 runners and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position. Their only runs came via a Shohei Ohtani bases-loaded walk in the fifth and a Mookie Betts sacrifice fly in the seventh.
Miguel Rojas was the offensive sparkplug, going 2-for-3 with a walk and a stolen base. He scored both of the Dodgers’ runs and was the only player in the lineup with multiple hits. Rojas also made several sharp plays at third base.
Meanwhile, the top of the lineup struggled: Ohtani, Betts, Smith, and Freeman went a combined 0-for-13 with five strikeouts and four walks. In extra innings, the Dodgers went down quietly, with Freeman, Pages, and Edman striking out in order against Brewers closer Trevor Megill.
It wasn’t just the bats that let the Dodgers down. The little things added up: a throwing error by Smith, a balk from Glasnow, missed chances to tack on insurance runs. That allowed the Brewers to reset and walk it off.
With the Dodgers now at 56–38 — and swept for the second straight time — they’ll try to stop the bleeding in San Francisco, where Giants’ fans are no doubt licking their chops to take on their hated in-state rivals, whose losing streak now has hit six games.
Despite the loss, Glasnow’s return was the brightest takeaway. If he stays healthy, the Dodgers have a true frontline arm back in the mix. But for now, Los Angeles needs more than pitching — they need timely hitting and tighter execution.
