Dodgers Recap: LA Trounces Snakes to Take Division Crown
Game 159, 9/25/2025: Dodgers 8, Diamondbacks 0

PHOENIX — Now THAT’S how you take the division! Riding another brilliant start from Yoshinobu Yamamoto and four home runs, the Dodgers pummeled the Arizona Diamondbacks by a score of 8-0, securing their twelve NL West title in the last thirteen years. It. Was. Delicious.
The Dodgers’ bats finally showed up for their ace on Thursday. After being stingy with their run support all season (4th lowest in the big leagues), LA got on the board early in this one. After going down quietly in the first, the Dodgers jumped all over opener Jalen Beeks in the top of the second. Freddie Freeman walloped a line drive home run over the right field wall. Then, after former Dodger Nabil Crismatt came on to be the bulk guy, Andy Pages greeted him with a second home run. The Dodgers got right back to work, loading up the bases for the top of the order. Shohei Ohtani struck out on a chase, but Mookie Betts drilled a two-run single into left to give the good guys a 4-0 lead.
The Dodgers doubled that lead in the fourth, with another power surge. Kiké Hernandez doubled to lead off. Then, after Dalton Rushing pushed him to third with a groundout, it was back to the top of the order. On a 1-1 pitch, Shohei scooped a pitch that was practically in his ankles, and flicked it into the swimming pool in right center. Then, after a Mookie groundout and a single for Teoscar Hernandez, it was Freddie’s turn again. And he did more damage. Another two-run jack, this one clearing the fence in right center.
Gifted with a bullpen-proof lead, Yamamoto just cruised the rest of the way. 6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 2 BB, 7 K. He ends the year with a nifty 2.49 ERA. And who wants to face him in October? Any takers? No?
The comfortable advantage allowed Dave Roberts to give Tanner Scott a “get right” inning in the seventh. He came through with a 1-2-3 frame. Bodes well. Then, Will Klein handled the eighth without much trouble, and Anthony Banda put the finishing touches on the shutout with a scoreless ninth.
Hot Dog! Now, the team heads up to Seattle, with nothing really at stake. The only thing left to do is enjoy this one, reset the mental clock. And know that the next month will be one that could very well write these men’s names into the history books. Let’s go!
