Cactus League Game 20, 3/11/2025: Guardians 4, Dodgers 10

GLENDALE, Ariz. – Roki Sasaki took the mound for the Dodgers this afternoon, making his second start in Cactus League play against the Cleveland Guardians. Sasaki delivered a strong outing, pitching four scoreless innings, allowing just one hit and two walks, and striking out two. Though his strikeout total was lower than his previous start, he remained highly effective.

The Dodgers’ offense erupted early, setting the tone in the first inning. Tommy Edman launched a two-run homer to open the scoring, followed by Max Muncy‘s two-run double, extending the lead to 4-0. Shohei Ohtani then worked a bases-loaded walk to push across another run, and Edman followed with another walk, capping a dominant opening frame with a 6-0 lead.

The offensive onslaught continued in the second inning when Andy Pages lined a two-RBI single, pushing the Dodgers’ lead to 8-0. Kiké Hernández added an RBI single in the third, making it 9-0.

Landon Knack took over for Sasaki in the fifth and tossed two innings while surrendering three runs on three hits. Chris Newell hit a sacrifice fly in the sixth to extend the Dodgers’ lead to 10-3.

Blake Treinen entered in the seventh but struggled, recording just two outs while allowing one run on one hit. After Treinen’s exit, Kirby Yates finished the inning but allowed two more runs, trimming the Dodgers’ lead to 10-4.

Despite the runs allowed by the bullpen, the Dodgers’ early offensive explosion proved too much for the Guardians to overcome. Sasaki’s efficient start and nine runs in the first three innings secured a convincing win for the Dodgers. Overall, the Dodgers displayed remarkable patience at the plate in this performance, which is very encouraging as they head to Japan in the coming days to face the Chicago Cubs to kick off the regular season. With the offense looking as strong as it did, it will be exciting to see what the Dodgers can achieve in their upcoming series.

The Dodgers will return to action on Thursday for the Spring Breakout game against the Cubs at Camelback Ranch. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m. PDT.
