Dodgers Recap: Kershaw holds his own, but the Dodgers can’t solve “the Miz”
Game 93, 7/8/2025: Dodgers 1, Brewers 3

MILWAUKEE — The Dodgers’ offense continues to struggle against elite pitching, a recurring issue exposed in recent series. This time it was rookie sensation Jacob Misiorowski who kept Dodger hitters at bay, striking out twelve LA hitters in six dominant innings. Clayton Kershaw delivered a strong performance in a losing effort, proving his value on the mound once again, but defensive miscues and a late Brewers’ homer sent the Dodgers down to their fifth straight loss.
Top of the First
The Dodgers struck early when Shohei Ohtani crushed a solo home run to dead center, setting an aggressive tone. However, the offense stalled as Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Andy Pages struck out at the hands of Misiorowski at his triple-digit filth, leaving the score at 1-0. Ohtani would be the last Dodger to touch home plate in the game.
Bottom of the Fourth
A miscommunication between Kershaw and Miguel Rojas allowed a leadoff bloop single down the left side of the pitcher’s mound. The Brewers capitalized, with William Contreras tying the game at 1-1. A deflected ball by Betts into left field allowed another run, giving Milwaukee a 2-1 lead as they began to bleed Kershaw with paper cuts. However, those two admittedly cheap runs were all the Crew could muster against Kershaw, who has traditionally thrived in Milwaukee. A very nice outing for the future Hall-of-Famer.
Kershaw’s Outing
Kershaw exited after six strong innings, replaced by Alex Vesia in the seventh. His final line: 85 pitches (57 strikes), 6 IP, 2 ER, 1 BB, 3 K, 5 swinging strikes. The veteran showed precision and poise, keeping the Dodgers competitive without relying on velocity.
Bottom of the Eighth
Kirby Yates surrendered a solo home run to Sal Frelick, extending the Brewers’ lead to 3-1. The Dodgers got nothing going against the Milwaukee pen, and the score stayed right there all the way to the final out.
The team faces an early game tomorrow at 11:10 AM PDT before heading west to face the San Francisco Giants, aiming to avoid dropping consecutive series.
