Dodgers Recap: Tyler Glasnow has his best rehab start in Las Vegas

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow made his third rehab start with the Triple-A Oklahoma City Comets against the Las Vegas Aviators at Las Vegas Ballpark. Glasnow, recovering from right shoulder inflammation that sidelined him since April 28. This outing is expected to be a significant one, with Glasnow aiming to pitch around five innings and throw approximately 75 pitches.
Glasnow is working his way back from right shoulder inflammation that has kept him on the injured list since late April. His previous two rehab starts have shown mixed results:
- First Rehab Start (June 22nd): Glasnow tossed two scoreless innings, demonstrating good velocity (topping out at 98.3 mph), but struggled with control, walking three batters.
- Second Rehab Start (June 28th): This outing was rougher, as Glasnow gave up five runs on seven hits over 2 1/3 innings and threw 66 pitches. Dodgers manager Dave Roberts noted that while Glasnow’s stuff looked fine, his efficiency was lacking.
Glasnow’s line – 78 P / 51 S / 4.1 IP / 6 H / 3 ER / 1 BB / 8 K / 1 HR. His fastball reached 98 mph, complemented by a 90+ mph slider and an 82-mph curveball. This outing marked his best rehab performance yet, showing improved command and stuff compared to his previous start, where he struggled with efficiency (2.1 IP, 5 runs, 66 pitches). Dodgers manager Dave Roberts had hoped Glasnow would reach five innings or 75 pitches, a target he met.
Last night’s start in Las Vegas is crucial as it could be his final tune-up before returning to the Dodgers big league rotation, potentially before the All-Star break. The team is hoping to see more command and execution from the right-hander as he continues to build up his workload.
