WASHINGTON, D.C. — Not much has gone right for the Los Angeles Dodgers on this East Coast road trip in April. First, the weather is putrid and freezing, then rain and sloppiness in Philly for three games, and to top it off here in D.C., our nation’s capital, the team has forgotten most of its fundamentals.

From start to finish, it was all Washington in today’s game, where the Dodgers were held to just two runs scored on a pair of solo home runs by Andy Pages and Kiké Hernández.

Other than that, despite the team’s eight hits, the Dodgers were punched out fifteen times and were out of the game early, thanks to the Nats offense’s eight runs in the first four innings off rookie right-handed Justin Wrobleski.

Wrobleski, 24, had a great spring and was even given some consideration for a spot on the Dodgers 26-man roster. However, the Dodgers’ overwhelming potching depth forced their hand, optioning him back to Triple-A OKC.

Still, while Justin had 5.1 scoreless innings under his belt in the minor leagues, it’s the Major League level that is still a test for the young righty.

James Wood, the top prospect included in the massive Juan Soto trade, had his second career multi-homer game and his second career five-RBI night.

While the Dodgers did not commit an error tonight, a rare feat over the last seven games, one problem continued to persist: stolen bases. Overall, this season, opposing teams are 13-for-13 in stolen base attempts, with neither Will Smith nor tonight’s catcher, Austin Barnes, throwing a single runner out.

Where Wrobleski did win for the Dodgers tonight was still giving them five total innings, allowing Dave Roberts to use two pitchers for the rest of the game.

That’ll set up tomorrow’s starter, Landon Knack, and the bullpen well as the team looks to avoid a series sweep in D.C. before returning home on Friday.
