Cactus League Game 16, 3/7/2025: Mariners 4, Dodgers 6
Peoria, Ariz. – The Los Angeles Dodgers took on the Seattle Mariners in this evening’s Spring Training matchup, with left-hander Justin Wrobleski getting the start. Wrobleski delivered an impressive outing, pitching 3.1 innings, allowing three hits, and striking out five batters. Ranked as the seventh-best left-handed pitching prospect by position according to MLB.com, Wrobleski continues to flash the potential of a future big-league starter.
The Dodgers’ offense came alive in the top of the third inning, sparked by left fielder Michael Conforto. Conforto ripped a two-run double to open the scoring, giving Los Angeles an early 2-0 lead. Kiké Hernández followed with an RBI single, extending the Dodgers’ lead to 3-0.
Conforto wasn’t finished. He launched a solo home run in his next at-bat, pushing the Dodgers’ lead to 4-0. Over his last two games, Conforto has been scorching hot, going 4-for-5. A sneaky offseason pickup by the Dodgers, Conforto has been a key offensive contributor in Spring Training, showcasing his ability to provide valuable pop in the lineup as the season approaches.
Kike Hernández also had a strong performance tonight, finishing 2-for-3 with an RBI. Expected to serve as a versatile depth piece, and his solid production at the plate is an encouraging sign as he looks ahead into the regular season.
The Dodgers continued to tack on runs in the later innings. In the seventh, Ryan Ward added an RBI forceout to make it 5-0. Chris Newell contributed another insurance run in the ninth with an RBI forceout, extending the Dodgers’ lead to 6-0.
However, in the ninth inning, the Dodgers’ bullpen struggled, surrendering four runs. Despite the late scare, the bullpen shut down Seattle’s rally and secured a 6-4 victory. Outside of the struggles in the final inning, the Dodgers’ pitching staff was stellar, and the offense was led by Conforto, who drove in half of the team’s runs.
The Dodgers will face the Chicago White Sox at Camelback Ranch tomorrow afternoon. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 p.m. PST.
