Cactus League Game 19, 3/10/2025: Diamondbacks 2, Dodgers 6
GLENDALE, Ariz. – Yoshinobu Yamamoto took the mound for the Dodgers and delivered a stellar outing, looking sharp as he consistently got ahead in counts. He pitched five strong innings, allowing just one run on four hits while striking out seven and walking one. Of his 75 pitches, 50 were strikes, giving him a 67% strike rate. Overall, it was an impressive performance and a key tune-up before the Dodgers head to Japan.
The offense wasted no time getting on the board in the first inning. Shohei Ohtani set the tone with a leadoff double to right field, followed by a Tommy Edman single. Freddie Freeman came through with a two-run double, giving the Dodgers an early 2-0 lead over the Diamondbacks.
Teoscar Hernández added to the lead in the second inning with an RBI double, bringing Edman home to make it 3-0.
In the fifth, Hyeseong Kim scored on a wild pitch from Listher Sosa, and James Outman followed with an RBI triple, driving in Zyhir Hope to extend the Dodgers’ lead to 5-1.
Jack Dreyer surrendered a solo home run to Gabriel Moreno in the sixth, trimming the Dodgers’ lead to 5-2.
Alex Vesia followed with a dominant performance, striking out the side in a perfect inning of work. The left-hander, expected to play a key role in the Dodgers’ bullpen, is looking to build off last season’s career-best 1.76 ERA.
In the seventh, Kim led off with a single, and Hunter Feduccia added an RBI double to right field, pushing the lead to 6-2.
Overall, the Dodgers bounced back nicely after yesterday’s loss. The offense capitalized in key situations, and the pitching staff, led by Yamamoto and Vesia, was stellar. With less than two days before their trip to Japan, the team looks ready for the start of the regular season.
The Dodgers return to action tomorrow against the Cleveland Guardians at 1:05 p.m. PDT. Roki Sasaki will make his second start at Camelback Ranch as the team looks to carry today’s momentum forward.
