Dodgers Rumors: Dodgers Among Teams Showing Interest in Jake Meyers
Add another outfielder connected to the Dodgers this winter.

ORLANDO, FL—It is no secret that the Los Angeles Dodgers’ top priority this offseason is solving the hole in the outfield.
Despite winning back-to-back World Series titles, the Dodgers did so with minimal production from their outfield as the one-year prove-it deal for Michael Conforto backfired, and Teoscar Hernández regressed at the plate and was one of the worst defenders in baseball.
While the team will undoubtedly continue to be linked to top free agent outfielders such as Kyle Tucker or former 2019 National League MVP Cody Bellinger, the team will also be involved in the trade market for several available options.
While we’ve already heard rumors of the Dodgers’ potential interest in Cleveland Guardians outfielder Steven Kwan or St. Louis Cardinals utility player Brendan Donovan, another name linked to Los Angeles is Jake Meyers of the Houston Astros.
According to Brian McTaggart of MLB.com, who covers the Astros, the Dodgers are one of several teams to check in on Meyers this winter.
Brown wouldn’t address the Meyers rumor specifically, but sources say the White Sox, Dodgers, Reds and Royals are interested in the 29-year-old who’s under team control for two more seasons.
While not a household name, the Dodgers’ interest in Meyers fits what they’re looking for: the 29-year-old is an elite defensive fielder who took a step forward at the plate last season for Houston.
Meyers just finished his most productive offensive season, batting .292/.354/.373 with three home runs, 53 runs scored, 24 RBIs, 16 stolen bases, and a 107 wRC+ while earning 2.3 WAR in 104 games (equivalent to a 3.6 WAR pace over a full season). Notably, this was Meyer’s first season as an above-average hitter, having played more than 50 games.
Meyers derives most of his value from his defensive skills. His nine outs above average in center field ranked in the 96th percentile among players. In 2024, he recorded 13 outs above average, placing him in the 97th percentile, with an elite sprint speed of 28.9 feet per second (89th percentile).
While the fans won’t like it, the Dodgers and Astros are a perfect trade fit: Houston is seeking starting pitchers this offseason, and Los Angeles has a surplus of young, controllable arms that would attract their attention.
