LOS ANGELES, CA — With the Dodgers still scuffling with major injuries to the rotation and lineup, LA is looking towards some players in Chicago to help mend these recent wounds.
Per The Athletics Ken Rosenthal, Patrick Mooney, and Katie Woo, LA is looking at left-hander Garrett Crochet and outfielder Luis Robert Jr. as potential trade targets come the deadline.
Robert Jr. is not having himself the season he had in his 2023 campaign, but despite that, he is starting to heat up at the plate and slashing a .198 AVG/.324 OBP/.499 SLG/.823 OPS. Robert Jr. could fit into this Dodgers lineup to take up Mookie Betts spot or could be used in the middle half of the lineup as seen fit. Crochet is seemingly the only bright light for the White Sox this year and could be the main priority for the Dodgers on the pitching front as he currently holds a 6-6 record with a 3.05 ERA and 130 punch-outs in 94 innings.
What’s more important for the Dodgers?
With a lot of moving pieces in the rotation, the Dodgers should attack the pitcher’s market and Crochet would be the most viable piece. With Yoshinobu Yamamoto still without a timetable return, Walker Buehler recently placed on the 15-day IL with hip inflammation, and Clayton Kershaw shut down from his next rehab start with shoulder soreness, Crochet could at least put a bandaid on this damaged rotation. Nonetheless, the Dodgers are going to be heavily aggressive at the deadline and putting all their chips on the table to hopefully, in return, hoist the most valuable chip of them all come October.
