Dodgers Rumors: Dodgers Open to Tyler Glasnow Trade

ORLANDO, FL—With the 2025 Major League Baseball Winter Meeting finally over, with the last order of business being the Rule-5 Draft in Orlando, teams will now return and try to continue whatever deals they discussed over the week.
Despite some early reports at the start of the offseason, the back-to-back World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers look to be very active this winter, with multiple options on the table, including Teoscar Hernández, who was connected to the Kansas City Royals yesterday, and now right-handed pitcher Tyler Glasnow.
According to Alden González of ESPN, who listed Tyler Glasnow’s name being involved in trade rumors as the most interesting thing he heard this week in Orlando.
Tyler Glasnow‘s name has come up in conversations, and the Dodgers would not be opposed to moving him. He’s poised to make a combined $60 million over the next two years, with either a $30 million club option or a $21.6 million player option in 2028. But the quality of his stuff continues to tantalize executives throughout the industry, and there are certainly a fair share of teams that will bank on him staying healthy enough to make it worthwhile. Maybe he’s part of the package that brings Tarik Skubal to L.A. It’s a long shot, perhaps, but wilder things have happened.
During the 2024 offseason, the Dodgers took a risk by trading for Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays, sending top pitching prospect right-hander Ryan Pepiot in return.
Under the deal agreement, Glasnow and the Dodgers promptly agreed on a 5-year, $136 million extension, with a mutual option to extend it to 6 years.
Even with Glasnow joining the team, his spot in the Dodgers’ starting rotation remains at the back, as the 4th starter behind Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Blake Snell, and Shohei Ohtani, especially considering veteran lefty Clayton Kershaw‘s retirement.
Glasnow might be considered the likely candidate to be excluded from this group. At 32, he has a history of injuries and is assured of earning $65 million over the next two seasons, along with a $30 million team option in 2028.
Glasnow remains capable of being dominant on the mound. He recorded 106 strikeouts and gave up 56 hits in 90.1 innings, but his 2.47 strikeout-to-walk ratio was his lowest since 2017.
Glasnow’s highest total of innings pitched is 134 in 2024. Since 2019, he has exceeded 100 innings in only two seasons.
That said, if the Dodgers decide to make Glasnow available, they would likely need to absorb some of his salary to get any return. Whether a team would be interested in trading for him is also uncertain because of his injury history.
In the past 24 hours, several media outlets have reported that the Dodgers and Detroit Tigers discussed a possible major trade involving Tarik Skubal. Additionally, Jim Bowden of The Athletic mentioned Glasnow as a piece in a potential trade package.
